Thursday 21st July – bike *** – Short two rivers, Deben to the Orwell – mainly cloudy and cooler.

A cloudy day in Felixstowe and thankfully much cooler, Mag went out early on her bike but I decided to give that a miss and go out after lunch instead. I set off just after 1.30 and soon realised my battery for my e – wheel was pretty low so it turned out to be a normal no power ride which was fine. I headed inland first through the woods at The Grove in hope of seeing some combine harvesters working. The wheat had been recently been cut and the field was covered in large round bails, always good for a Photo:) Out on Gulpher Road I was overtaken by a tractor and trailer hopefully heading back to a combine. I followed it down Marsh Lane which was difficult to see in all the dust being kicked up. The field by the delict house was again covered in large bails including one with a buzzard on it! I could see the combine working in the distance and was soon near it, it was actually cutting the rape field with the tractor along side collecting the seed with loads of birds flitting about, probably just about to lose their home! I continued onto the bumpy Deben path leading to Felixstowe Ferry where the tide was whizzing in really fast! Then pas t the golf course to The Dip where windsurfing mate Robert was just arriving wife his wife Tina for a walk so, I stopped for a chat, to be honest the wind had turned easterly and increased, definitely strong enough to foil! Around to The Fludgers I cycled the full length of the busy prom with a tail wind too! Through Landguard with a quick stop at the dock view point and then straight back along Langer Road and home. One of my combine pics was chosen as Editors pic on the BBC and it actually made it onto Look East, my first photo on Look east for weeks! And I also got a small windsutfing pic in the local paper, the Star today:)
Might get enough wind for a foil tomorrow afternoon but Sunday and Monday are looking particularly promising:)
